Abstract
What can the social sciences contribute to increasing cycling? Across a range of individual academic disciplines, a large and ever-growing number of studies focussed on cycling have appeared over the last decade. This presentation gives a short insight into the implications of these for the disciplines with which they engage. More importantly, however, the presentation looks towards the capacity of the social sciences to assist in the understanding of cycling cultures and to interpret and inform the processes of social change of which cycling advocacy is part.
