The methodology adopted in this research uses a critical literature review and a small selection of semi-structured interviews to consider the introduction, implementation and effect of performance management and appraisal systems in the voluntary sector and the hospice movement. The main findings of this project suggest that there is more research needed to establish the effective contribution that the renewed interest in human resource management has made within the voluntary sector.envoluntary sectorperformance managementPerformance management and the voluntary sector: A fine romance?Thesis or dissertation
